122. When is repentance sincere?

Repentance is sincere when the sinner submits to God’s judgment and turns away from sin.

• He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy. (Proverbs 28:13)
• For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. (1 Corinthians 11:31)
• Therefore bear fruits worthy of repentance. (Matthew 3:8)
