83. How did Jesus react to people’s hatred?

Jesus foresaw His suffering and did not withdraw from it. Without becoming bitter towards people, He resolutely went to the cross and willingly gave His life there out of love for everyone.

  • The Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and to the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify. And the third day He will rise again. (Matthew 20:18-19)
  • I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. (John 10:11,18)
  • And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” (Luke 23:33-34)
