114. What is the Holy Spirit’s role in calling sinners?

The Holy Spirit awakens the sinner from his sleep of sin, helps him realise his lost condition and opens his eyes to Jesus, the Saviour.

Above all, the Holy Spirit uses the word of God to do this.

• Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light. (Ephesians 5:14)
