153. Who is the head of the Christian church?

The head of the Christian church is our Lord Jesus Christ alone; for He is the only reason for our salvation.

• For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11)
• We do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. (2 Corinthians 4:5)
• The God of our Lord Jesus Christ put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church. (Ephesians 1:22)
