100. Which place does the Holy Spirit have in the lives of Jesus’ disciples?
The Holy Spirit came to the disciples in place of the visible presence of Jesus. Jesus is invisibly present in the Holy Spirit. This is how His promise is fulfilled: “See, I am with you every day until the end of the world.”
- I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of truth. (John 14:16-17)
- I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. (John 14:18)
The word “Comforter” means: “one who is called to another’s side.” The Holy Spirit is at our side, always ready to help us and stand up for us like an advocate for those who are put into His charge. We should, therefore, love the Holy Spirit rather than fear Him!
